Linen Closet – How To Keep It Well Organized?
You may think organizing your linen closet is a ‘piece of cake’ and can be done anytime. Yes, it can be easy but you need the discipline to do that. Time has to be spent on emptying the items in the closet so that you can rearrange them in a proper manner. Although it is not a must to have a this type of closet system in your home, having one can help to make your job much easier.
You have to constantly check on the tidiness of your closet. As mentioned, you need the discipline to keep it well organized. Your closet will not stay neat as always because you have other family members who may mess it up for you. So what can you do to make your job easier? Below are 4 tips to help you re-arrange your closet and keep it neat and clean for good.
1. Removing the unnecessary items
The first thing you can do is to take out all the content in your closet and see if you can discard any necessary items. In almost every household, there are definitely some items that you have no use for, in fact, you have not used them in the last 5 years. So what make you think that you will need them in the future? There may also be some items that belong somewhere else but definitely not in the linen closet. Getting rid of them will allow more space in your closet for you to store your bed sheets, pillows, blankets and towels.
2. Cleaning the shelves
Once you have removed all the items in the linen closet and gotten rid of the unnecessary things, you will now have to clean the shelves before putting the things in again. You can add a little bleach to the water to ensure that it is thoroughly clean. If you want your closet smelling fresh, you can add in a box of baking soda. You can also use acid free tissue paper to line the shelves as these can protect your blankets and quilts.
3. Organize by size
For bigger and less frequently used items such as beach towels, extra pillows or quilts, place them on either the lowest or highest shelf. For each bed sheet set, fold the various items and store them in one of the pillow cases. This will ensure that you have a full readily when you need them. Fold your washcloth and towels neatly and stack them up but ensure that you do not stack them too high to prevent them falling all over when you are getting the things out. These items can be placed in the middle shelf where they are easily accessible.

4. Maintain the arrangement
Finally, make sure you put the items in the correct pile each time you put in the freshly washed items. You can keep your linen closet neat and tidy simply by maintaining the order from now onwards. You only have to re-organize it once.
